Kevin Evely: Alternative Energy Pioneer

During his mid-twenties Kevin purchased 17 wooded acres outside of Hartsgrove Township in Ashtabula County and started to design and build his alternative energy cabin. His cabin was completed in 1995 and was the first full time facility in Ohio solely powered by alternative energy sources. The cabin was featured on the Green Energy Ohio tour from 1997 to 2007. Kevin resided in his cabin year around since its completion in 1995 until his passing in 2011.

Using solar and wind power to provide all its energy needs, the energy system has enough power to run a spa, microwave, power tools, refrigerator, lights, water pump, stereo, two televisions, etc on a daily basis.

After the cabin was completed in 1995, Kevin produced a VHS video showing the fundamentals of his alternative energy cabin using solar and wind. He had the video transferred to DVD in 2009 and sold the DVD on his websites. Since Kevin passed we wanted to keep the video available for people to view.
